Trauma Services recently partnered with the Mansfield Police Department to provide a regional Biohazard & Fentanyl training workshop for first responders.
Police, fire & EMS from a number of surrounding communities attended the specialized training workshop, which examined a range of topics including the various types of bio-hazardous environments first responders most often face: the proper methods to assess risk to police officers and first responders; how to navigate safely within a bio-hazardous scene and what tools are necessary to properly collect evidence in a crime scene that poses a bio-hazardous threat. The seminar also covered the best way to decontaminate after exposure to hazardous materials as well as the best way to clean their equipment.
The narcotics portion of the workshop was led by Michael Cashman, former DEA Special Agent (ret). who specialized in Clandestine Laboratory Investigations.
“This was a fantastic event. We love our hometown Mansfield PD and thank them for hosting this training.” said Trauma Services CEO Mike Wiseman. “I know we’ve said this before, but our goal is to make sure that all of our partners in law enforcement are aware of these threats, in order to keep them safe on the job.”
The demonstration is one in a series of free seminars Trauma Services provides to local police and fire departments across New England.
