Trauma Services has been helping families and landlords improve properties that have been neglected by hoarders to make these properties safe to inhabit again. We work discreetly with families, friends, and landlords who have been unable to take care of their property due to physical or mental limitations. Trash and other items accumulate to the point that renders the premises unsafe. There may be fire hazards, odor issues, bacteria colonies, insect and rodent infestation.
These situations require trained professionals to safely clean and remove contaminated items and the structure itself. Protective clothing and respiratory equipment need to be worn during these cleanups to avoid exposure to such hazards as bacteria, Hantavirus, histoplasmosis, staph including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) and E. coli. After the home is decontaminated, the restoration process can begin, bringing the home back to a safe and livable environment.
All possessions that are salvageable are neatly packaged, labeled and stored on-site in a closet or attic. They can also be kept in a safe storage unit at Trauma Services’ headquarters until the family is able to retrieve it.
