
This beginner’s course will give the new examiner the tools needed to determine the quality of friction ridge impressions located at crime scenes and build confidence in analyzing friction ridge impressions.
Through lecture and hands on analysis students will gain a knowledge of the history of fingerprints, understand the important concepts of permanence and uniqueness, learn how to determine the anatomical source of friction ridge impressions, determine pattern, and value, and apply proper note taking during the analysis stage. Students will further be trained in taking high quality known exemplars and major case prints with the bulk of the course dedicated to students actively analyzing and documenting high quality friction ridge impressions.
The knowledge and experience gained in the most critical stage of applied ACE – V methodology, the analysis stage, will help achieve the greatest success in identifying friction ridge impressions.
